Claudine Lamond

Claudine Lamond

ANU-NUS Master of Arts (Southeast Asian Studies)

Claudine graduated from Canberra Girls Grammar before going to the ANU to study a Bachelor of Arts/ Asian Studies (Japanese/ Security Studies). She chose to come to ANU to do her masters not only because of the globally renowned reputation, but also because, "...it was one of the only MAs in the world that allowed me to specialise in South East Asian Studies." This program had her go to Singapore to experience the culture and learning style in the National University of Singapore.

ANU's depth of knowledge in her area of interest has made a large impact on her studies, expanding and deepening her understanding of the region. "Discovering South East Asian Studies through area studies allowed me to gain a more complete perception of the region. Coming from a political background, I did not anticipate the depth of knowledge that forms the foundation of Southeast Asian Studies."

Claudine hopes to live and undertake her PhD in Southeast Asia after she graduates, but will always remember the other students and academics at ANU who share her research interests.
