Review of Indonesian and Malaysian Affairs (RIMA)
Review of Indonesian and Malaysian Affairs, commonly know as RIMA (ISSN 0815-7251) publishes two issues, comprising one volume, each year.
RIMA began as a publication of the then Department of Indonesian and Malayan Studies, University of Sydney in March 1967. From volume 37 (2003) it has been published by the Association for the Publication of Indonesian and Malaysian Studies Inc., based in Canberra. This Association is an incorporated association in the ACT and has no affiliation with any university or other body. RIMA declares its scope as follows: 'RIMA seeks to publish scholarly studies relating to societies and cultures, understood in the broadest terms, to be found in Indonesia, Malaysia and surrounding areas.'
RIMA is Australia's leading refereed journal dealing with a broad range of cultural and historical issues in Indonesia, Malaysia and neighbouring countries. Founded at the University of Sydney in 1967, with volume 37 for 2003 its publication moved to Canberra. This long history means that it is taken by all major libraries of the world with an interest in the field. Currently, two issues make up an annual volume amounting to between 300 and 400 pages. While some issues have articles grouped around a common theme, others cover a range of interests. An important aim is to offer relatively fast turn-around for submitted articles, especially for younger Australian authors
