Asia-Pacific Day
Every year the School of Culture, History and Language offers high school students the opportunity to experience Asia-Pacific studies at the ANU. Students are invited to attend a full day of talks and presentations, showcasing the breadth of study opportunities in Asia-Pacific Studies.

Asia-Pacific Day is divided into three main sections. The first session features a range of lectures about languages from the Asia-Pacific. Students may choose a lecture that is most relevant to their field of interest. The second session features a range of lectures that focus on the contextual aspects of Asia-Pacific Studies. This session may include lectures that relate to history, politics, linguistics, religion or pop culture. The final session of the day features presentations about the unique opportunities that the ANU offers for students studying Asia-Pacific Studies. Lunch is provided.

All students in years 10, 11 and 12 are welcome to attend. Information will be sent out to all ACT high schools and colleges some months prior.

Guest lecture series
In 2012, the School of Culture, History and Language is continuing to run a guest lecture series for local high schools and colleges. A number of the School's academics and PhD students are available, free of cost, to give guest lectures to secondary school classes. Guest lectures may be held on ANU campus or at schools within the ACT region. The possible lecture topics cover a wide range of issues and countries. In the past topics have included Japanese whaling, Indonesian hip hop, Chinese gardens, Islamic radicalism, Japan's education system, gender and caste in India, Japanese internment in Australia during World War II, Japanese language, and the Korean War. The School of Culture, History and Language is host to 200 academics who specialise in the Asia-Pacific region. Teachers who wish to request a presentation on a particular topic are encouraged to make direct contact.

ANU Secondary College
The School offers all ACT Year 11 and 12 students of Japanese the chance to participate in the ANU Secondary College Program. Students can take courses in either Continuing or Advanced Japanese, and the results are included in the calculation of ATAR scores. Classes begin in Term 2, and are held on weekday afternoons.
