Every couple of weeks, the Mongolia Institute holds a seminar as part of a Lunchtime Seminar Series.
This Friday, the Mongolia Institute will be hosting a participatory calligraphy event on the traditional Mongolian script to commemorate National Language and Script Day, which is celebrated on the first Sunday of May every year in Mongolia. This day was established in 2018 to highlight the need for the preservation of the endangered traditional Mongolian script and to raise awareness about Mongolian as a distinct language.
The event will take place in the newly appointed Mongolia Room in the Coombs Building (room 1.258). During this event, participants can contribute to the completion of one large piece of classic Mongolian calligraphy, while at the same time visitors are welcome to come and experiment with an A4-sized work in classical Mongolian script to take home.
11am–1pm Friday, 6 May 2022 Mongolia Room 1.258, HC Coombs Building
