This thematic Roundtable series addresses two of the most challenging teaching and learning points of Chinese as a foreign language: tones (shengdiao) and characters (Hanzi).

The series consists of three separate Roundtables:

a) Teaching Tones: Understanding tones in various speech production context: Pedagogical implications

(b) Teaching Hanzi: Handwritten or e-writing? Dilemma and option

c) An e-Hanzi class: Optimizing the Chinese language teaching: A typing-primary model Each Roundtable comprises discussions of conceptual and theoretical issues, the presentation of classroom instructional practices, and the illustration of teaching tasks and testing items.

The series offers a wide array of the latest thinking, practice and experience in the Chinese language teaching field today.
