Salvatore is currently a PhD Candidate in the Department of Gender, Media, and Cultural Studies, at the Australian National University. His PhD research examines election campaign communication in Indonesia, particularly the use of negative campaigning at national and local elections and how these campaigning strategies may affect voters by applying mixed-methods approach. Prior to his PhD, he taught as a lecturer at the Atma Jaya Catholic University of Indonesia, Jakarta. He obtained his Master's degree in Communication Studies from Universitas Gadjah Mada, and Bachelors' degree in Communication Science from Atma Jaya Yogyakarta University, Indonesia. His main academic interest is media and politics, election campaigns, and journalism. He has experiences in investigating political communication and political roles of media in Indonesia.
