B.Arts (Hons) ANU

I am a PhD student working on a reference grammar of Mandailing (Batak, Austronesian), a language from North Sumatra. I also completed my Honours in linguistics at ANU, where I investigated the variability in subject expression in Lelepa (Central Vanuatu, Oceanic) using quantitative methods. Apart from English, I speak Mandarin and Fuzhounese, both of which are my first languages.

Research Interest

I have a rather broad interest in both the sound and grammar of languages in Asia and the Pacific, particularly those that are underdescribed or endangered. I am also fascinated by diachronic changes and synchronic variations in those languages, and I am trying to tackle them using both qualitative and quantitative methods.
