Professor Kyung Moon Hwang from the ANU School of Culture, History & Language introduces some of his favourite Korean movies from his new book, Fate and Freedom in Korean Historical Films.

It’s a way to look into these works' depictions of the Korean past as a way to understand the Korean present. The event will feature a 45-minute presentation, followed by a 45-minute Q&A and discussion. There will also be brief commentary provided by special guest Darcy Paquet, one of the pre-eminent Korean movie critics and founder of the authoritative review site Koreanfilm.org.

Kyung Moon Hwang is a Korea Foundation Professor and the Director of the ANU Korea Institute.
